BLUE HILL – With a heartfelt concert featuring a performance from Max Treitler and Chris Nemeth, Saturday’s benefit raised more than $8500 to aid those affected by the conflict in Ukraine.

“Many thanks to everyone in the community who came out and supported the people of Ukraine through Bagaduce Music’s Benefit Concert on Saturday,” shares Teresa Myrwang, Executive Director. “We are well on our way to reaching our goal of raising $10,000.”

Trevor Riggen, President of Humanitarian Services at American Red Cross, and Brooklin resident made opening remarks, “I am so grateful for the support of this community to help alleviate the suffering of those being forced from their homes as the current situation worsens an already critical humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. The Global Red Cross network and its partners have mobilized thousands of volunteers and staff to support those in need in Ukraine and the millions that have fled their homes to neighboring countries to seek safety.”

Bagaduce Music moved quickly to organize a benefit concert. Within one week, the organization rallied support from the performers, Tradewinds Marketplace, Blue Hill Co-op, Mainescape, The Bay School, Blue Hill Harbor School and First Congregational Church of Blue Hill, the venue host.

The organization continues to accept donations through Friday, March 18th. All funds will be sent to the International Committee of the Red Cross and to World Central Kitchen. Donors can visit bagaducemusic.org/support.

Bagaduce Music’s mission is to collect, preserve and lend printed sheet music and to promote the appreciation, knowledge, and performance of music.
