BAGADUCE MUSIC BOARD ANNOUNCES MYRWANG’S RETIREMENT & KICKS OFF SEARCH FOR NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
BLUE HILL – Bagaduce Music announces that Teresa Myrwang will be retiring as Executive Director this Fall upon the selection of a new executive. Teresa joined Bagaduce Music almost five years ago to serve as its leader. At the time of her arrival, Bagaduce Music had just relocated its operations and music library to its new campus on South Street in Blue Hill.
Teresa recognized immediately that the music lending activities of the organization, while important, could not support Bagaduce Music in its newly expanded facilities. She inaugurated the From Our Collection series of performances featuring examples of the great variety of music in the library’s amazing collection.
When Covid-19 impacted indoor performance, the From Our Collection performances became “Unexpected Music in Unexpected Places” as venues moved outdoors to locations on the Blue Hill Peninsula and on Deer Isle. The past few years have been very difficult for most performing arts organizations. Bagaduce Music Board President Rich Howe said, “We are immensely thankful for her contributions to the organization. Teresa has managed the transformative changes at Bagaduce Music with solid professionalism, with the development of new audiences and supporters, and always with a wonderful sense of humor.”
“Yes, these last couple of years have been very challenging given the hope and expectation of our larger mission—to highlight our vast and diverse collection of printed music in performance settings—but also due to the pandemic,” Teresa said. “I am tremendously grateful to the Board, to our community volunteers and to my capable colleagues on staff at Bagaduce Music for their confidence in and love of this wonderful organization. It has been a huge privilege to end my working career at so fine an organization with so many exciting possibilities ahead. Bagaduce Music will always have my full support going forward.”
The search process for a new executive director has begun with an expectation of having a new leader in place by year-end. Interested applicants should contact Bagaduce Music at search@bagaducemusic.org.
Bagaduce Music is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation with a mission to collect, preserve and lend printed music and to promote the appreciation, knowledge, and performance of music.
