BLUE HILL – Bagaduce Music will present its third season of popular concerts, 2022 From Our Collection, Unexpected Music in Unexpected Places, from May through October. The concert series spans genres ranging from jazz to classical, to popular American tunes and old-time fiddle and blues.
In addition to local musician favorites such as Bennett Konesni, John Gallagher, and Scott Cleveland, Bagaduce Music will present the international fiddle group, Frigg, hailing from Helsinki, Finland, and the Grammy-nominated string quartet, Brooklyn Rider, based in New York.
“We are so fortunate to be able to bring these world-renowned groups to our area through partnerships with other presenting organizations”, says Bagaduce Music’s new Program Manager, Meredith Amado.
Featuring music from its extensive collection, these eclectic concerts will largely take place at outdoor venues throughout the greater Blue Hill peninsula and on Little Deer Isle. Social distancing measures will be observed for the few that take place inside.
The twelve event series will also include two community music-making workshops and a young person’s family concert featuring actors from New Surry Theater.
Performances will offer opportunities for audience members to learn more about Bagaduce Music’s collection and the music being performed.
“Bagaduce Music is deeply committed to music education and whenever possible, we try to include an educational component to our programs,” says Teresa Myrwang, Executive Director.
Advance tickets for the season will be available starting this week at bagaducemusic.org.
Bagaduce Music’s mission is to collect, preserve and lend printed music and to promote the appreciation, knowledge, and performance of music.
