2017 Blue Hill Pops Concert
The 27th annual Blue Hill Pops Concert, sponsored by the Bagaduce Music Lending Library, was held on Monday, July 3 in the George Stevens Academy gymnasium on Union Street in Blue Hill.
This year's festival of "Sounds Around Blue Hill" featured Portland- based singer/songwriter and instrumentalist Don Campbell and his three bandmates who performed music of 1970's singers/songwriters, with a special tribute to Maine's own Dan Fogelberg.
Other 2017 Blue Hill Pops performers included Velocipede, a violin and guitar duo who played traditional fiddle tunes; the Big Moose Contra Dance Group; and the Bagaduce Pops Singers, under the direction of Bronwyn Kortge, who performed a medley of songs taking the audience on a musical road trip across the U.S. In addition, Blue Hill Pops featured a winner of the Bagaduce Music Lending Library's 2017 Young Composers' Competition, 16 year old Soren Nyhus of Waterville, who performed his original piano composition, "Intermezzo".
Corporate Sponsors for the 2017 Blue Hill Pops were Bar Harbor Bank & Trust and Stanley Subaru.
