Bagaduce Music is delighted to announce its first event of the 2021 season with the Gawler Family Band as it “Welcomes in the Light”, virtually, via its website, www.bagaducemusic.org on Saturday, January 23rd. This event will consist of a FREE CONCERT at 7:00 PM, preceeded by a series of hourly workshops by band members.
The Gawler family of Maine has curated this concert specifically for the Bagaduce Music audience, focusing mainly on songs selected from the Bagaduce Music collection that anyone can sing with the theme of winter and light, and recorded outside in the freshest of January air deep in the woods of Maine. They will be singing around their own fire and encourage listeners to light a fire of their own and sing along!
As a concert warm-up, the individual Gawler family members will be offering ONLINE WORKSHOPS between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM of the 23rd, focusing on different folk genres and cultures as well as a variety of instruments. Workshops include:
- Circle Songs and Lullabies
- Fiddle Tunes from Maine on the Cello
- Back It Up! Rhythm/Chord Basics for Backing Fiddle Tunes
- Four Call & Response Songs Anyone Can Lead
- The Pine Tree Ballads of Holman F. Day
