Build a Banjo Workshop

Ever wanted to make your own banjo? Here’s your chance!
Build a tack-head banjo with Benjamin Foss! In this weeklong camp you’ll build a traditional fretless tack-head 5 string banjo. Learn some basic woodworking and banjo building skills, and end the week with your own banjo to enjoy! We’ll talk about banjo history and construction, cultural context, and spend the week shaping necks and stretching hide heads together. The class will be held in the Red Barn on the Bagaduce Music campus.
The class will run from 10a-5p from August 26th-29th, with a one hour lunch break, so please bring your own lunch. We ask that you also bring a notebook and your own tools if you prefer (rasp, file, sandpaper). If you do not have these items, we will have all tools available for participants. For lodging, we offer the option to set up a tent on our campus for an extra $25 per night, or rent a room at our Airbnb; please email us with your choice.
