Blue Hill Pops

Thank you for 30 years of Pops

All good things come to an eventual end and our annual Pops Celebration, held for 30 years on the 3rd of July at George Stevens Academy, is no exception.

We have decided to retire our much-loved signature fund- and friend-raising event. Your steadfast support over the years is much appreciated.

We hope you will consider ‘pivoting’ your support of Pops to ‘From our Collection,’ our second annual concert series featuring music of various genres we hold in our collection.

Again, thank you for the many years of support and patronage of Pops.

About this performance

For the past 30 years, we produced a summer event known as the Blue Hill Pops Concert. It drew heavily from the vast local talent pool on the Blue Hill Peninsula and beyond, featuring such luminaries as Paul Sullivan, Noel Paul Stookey, Flash in the Pan, New Trad Trio, Tim Sample, Ellacappella and too many others to name. In many ways, the concert, always on July 3rd, heralded the beginning of summer in this region for locals and summer folk alike.

As this is the 30th year of Pops, we thought it would be fun and appropriate to recognize Maine’s 200th birthday as part of the festivities. The event would showcase some of Maine’s brightest musical talent as well as some other surprises.

Due to COVID-19, we made the decision to re-imagine Pops and we put our heads together to devise a way to bring music to our community in a new way. Instead of gathering for performances at George Stevens Academy, we brought the content into the homes of our ticketholders. Enjoy this replay of our 2020 event.
